A biology teacher at a high school in Texas has been placed on administrative leave after a parent complained that the teacher was bullying her son over his support of President Donald Trump. The unidentified teacher at McNeil High School reportedly singled out the student and would press him over his support of the Trump administration.
"She said, âBy the way, I hate Donald Trump with a burning passion and he is a complete douchebagâ to a class full of seniors in high school,â the studentâs mother told KVUE. She explained that the teacher singled out her son, calling him a "Trumpy." She stated that her son was embarrassed by being called out for his political views in front of other classmates in an advanced placement science class.
"Iâm not sure why she was that angry. Then she continued to call my son âTrumpyâ as opposed to his name," the boy's mother added. "If she had a question, she said âHey, Trumpy, do you have an answer to this,' or, 'What do you think, Trumpy?ââ
As the class ended, the teacher threw one more insult toward the boy.
âNow youâre not going to fight me when we start talking about evolution, are you?â
The school district issued a statement saying that the teacher has been removed from the classroom while the investigation continues.
âIn Round Rock ISD, our goal is to create a classroom environment where students feel safe and respected,â school district spokeswoman Jenny LaCoste-Caputo said. âAs soon as the alleged incident in question was brought to the district's attention, the teacher was removed from the classroom, pending review, and remains on administrative leave as appropriate action is considered.â
The parents of the boy want the teacher fired for her actions and said that "politics should stay out of the classroom, period."
