PA state trooper shot in the line of duty

(Northampton County, PA)  --  A State Police Corporal is fighting for his life following a shooting in Plainfield Township.  Detectives say a traffic stop turned violent yesterday and the suspect, who was allegedly intoxicated, began to fight with the corporal and another trooper when they tried to arrest him.  The man pulled a gun and fired several shots, hitting the corporal three times.  The officers returned fire and the suspect was also shot and taken to the hospital.  The corporal underwent surgery and is in "extremely critical" but stable condition.
