Man Returns To Flooded Home And Finds Wife’s Engagement Ring In Wreckage

Before Hurricane Harvey hit, thousands of people fled their homes in anticipation of the dangerous conditions that the storm would cause. Now, footage from the area shows that staying could have been deadly: Entire neighborhoods are flooded and some roads are impossible to travel.

But people are now returning to their homes to see the damage. One of these Texas residents is Michael Brown, who recently returned to his flooded house.

In the clip below, you can how emotional he is when he sees his family’s possessions floating in the water. He slowly sifts through the wreckage, picking up some of his belongings.

“My family’s fine, nobody’s hurt, and that’s the main thing,” he says. “Because I think all this material stuff can be replaced. It’s just emotional.”

But in the middle of the destruction, he finds treasure: his wife’s engagement ring. It’s a miracle he found it!

“It keeps you up at night,” the oil refinery worker says after the find. “Makes you have bad dreams. Sometimes it tries to pull you down into that old hopeless state. But I mean you can’t give up.”
