Trump Marks 16th Anniversary Of 9/11 At The Pentagon

The 16th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks wasobserved at the Pentagon. President Trump said the annual, national observance of 9/11 is extraordinary. Trump noted that nearly 3,000 innocent lives were lost on that fateful day in 2001. He praised the strength and resilience of victims and said no force can take away the memories of fallen loved ones.  

Trump says the U.S. and the world were forever changed by the terror attacks. He called terrorists savage killers and said they represent barbaric forces of evil and destruction.  

 Defense Secretary James Mattis said Americans rallied together as one after the deadly attacks.  He noted that the U.S. will not be intimidated by terrorism.  

Joint Chiefs Chairman Joe Dunford said terrorists attacked America's way of life and national values.  He stressed that the attacks prompted a sense of unyielding resolve, throughout the U.S.  

The names of the 184  fallen were read aloud at the start of the ceremony.
